The extension of Greek point guard Vaggelis Mantzaris‘ contract was on top of Olympiacos’ summer agenda and finally there’s a deal between the two sides. Like in Printezis’ case, Mantzaris will sign a new three years contract with the Reds which will pay him in total 1,3 m. euros.

Both sides wanted to renew their collaboration since their first meeting. Mantzaris wanted to stay in the team in which his career exploded, but their first contact wasn’t successful. Panathinaikos tried to get involved in the case, however Mantzaris previous contract expired next summer and there was no way for the Greens to get him released. Still, all those incidents stalled the negotiations for a month.

A new meeting was held on Tuesday, all the last details of the new deal were fixed and Mantzaris will remain with the team for the next three seasons. The next expected move of the Reds will be to extend the contract of Kostas Sloukas who is also signed until the summer of 2015.
