The news about Jose Luis Abos leaving the bench of Zaragoza due to health issues overshadowed every thing else in Eurocup. The longtime head coach of the team will be replaced by his assistant Joaquin Ruiz.
In an official statement coach Abos explained: “I want to tell you that I have been having a health problem for a few weeks whose recovery will take an undetermined period of time. For that reason, I won’t be able to start the upcoming pre-season and help our CAI Zaragoza keep getting wins. I am completely sure that the technical staff that has worked with me for a few years will carry on showing its value as the excellent professionals that they are. I hope to be back with all of you as soon as possible to carry on experiencing the excitement of basketball at Pabellon Principe Felipe.”
During the weekend the team also announced the signing of Marcus Landry from Sevilla and his old team, which also competes in Eurocup, added on Monday poing guard Jerel McNeal.
