Just one day before the crucial Greek cup quarterfinal match up against Olympiacos, Panathinaikos announced that DeMarcus Nelson will travel to the States in order to have a surgery. The American guard suffers from a case of periostitis on his right tibia and he is expected to miss at least two months of action.

Loukas Mavrokefalidis and Vasilis Charalampopoulos will also miss the game due to injuries, while the presence of James Gist is under question, because of a shoulder injury.
