Mire Chatman, who three week ago became the Eurocup’s all time leading scorer, decided to retire from basketball after tonight’s game of Ventspils against Zielona Gora, the last European game of his current club for this season.
Chatman announced his decision to the team after the recent Eurocup loss against his former team Karsiyaka. “I want to thank Ventspils for giving me this one last opportunity and I thank all the coaches, teams, teammates and opponents I played with and against. I thank in particular coach Duda Ivkovic who I won the Eurocup with (ed.note: in 2006 with Dinamo Moscow) and Ralf Pleinics the general manager of BK Ventspils who gave me my first opportunity and my last opportunity. I truly never imagined having a career like this and I am very thankful. I look forward to getting back involved into basketball at some point in the future but my job now will be to be a father to my two children. I’ve been away from them way too long. Thanks to all,” said Mire Chatman.
