Efes Anadolu had set as priority to sign Zeljko Obradovic, but from the moment that the Serbian coach didn’t accept the huge contract was offered to him, they turned to their next choice. The plan “B” of the Turkish was about Oktay Mahmuti, who left from Galatasaray. They acted immediately in order to prevent potential suitors from Europe.
So, after Efes’ choice, three of the four main Turkish benches are covered by Turkish coaches (Oktay Mahmuti in Efes, Ergin Ataman in Galatasaray, Erman Kunter in Besiktas) and only Fenerbahce hasn’t announced yet the successor of Spahija with Italian Simone Pianigiani being the clear favorite.
Zoc is still without a team and it’s more than possible he will not work this year, while the case of his substitute in the bench of Panathinaikos is still open. Sarunas Jasikevicius requested a short extension until Monday to give his final answer and Yuri Zdovc seems to be an alternative.
