With the third all time leading scorer, Kobe Bryant, on the sidelines, Dirk Nowitzki became the 8th on the same list in the 102-98 win of Dallas over the Lakers. Nowitzki passed Hall of Famer Elvin Hayes who has scored 27.313 points during his career.
The German legend needed six points in order to pass him, he scored 14 in 24 minutes and now has 27.322 career points. He is expected to get to the 7th place in early January by surpassing Moses Malone (27.409 points) and his next target will be Shaquille O’Neal (28.596 points).
Bryant who currently has 32.365 points is still far away, but Nowitzki has big plans: “I told him that I was going to catch him. But that’s going to be tough.”
