It’s done. Zisis to Fenerbahce

By Nikos Varlas/ varlas@eurohoops.net

Nikos Zisis is the new member of Fenerbahce/ Ulker as the Greek guard, the Turkish club and Unics Kazan agreed to let him go from Russia to Istanbul. Zisis is expected to Turkey during the next days and he will make his debut on the 2nd of January against his former team CSKA Moscow.

The last minute idea – which was reported exclusively by Eurohoops – of the Euroleague contenders had a happy ending for all sides involved. Zisis will stay to Fenerbahce until the end of the season with the Turkish club paying the rest of his contract. Unics will save the money from the rest of the experienced guard’s contract – almost 600.000 euros – and a new player will be added as soon as possible. The Russians have the time to search for a replacement, since their next game will be played on the 7th of January at Strasbourg for Eurocup.

UPDATE: On Monday Fenerbahce/Ulker announced officially the signing of Greek guard.
