The replacement of Nikos Zisis in Unics Kazan was announced on New Year’s eve. Russian guard Anton Ponkrashov got the job, as he is very well known to coach Evgeni Pashutin from their collaboration in the Russian national team.
Ponkrashov’s move from “Red October” to Unics is a long term investement by his new team, as the two sides signed a contract until the summer of 2017 as it was officially announced. The replacement of Ponkrashov in “Red October” is Donnie McGrath who was recently released by Anadolu Efes and flirted with Zalgiris Kaunas.
