As it was expected after the decision of the highest council of judging sports differences (ΑΣΕΑΔ), the sports judge of ESAKE decided that the win in the quarterfinal game of the Greek cup between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, despite what happened on the court, belongs to the Reds.
The president of Panathinaikos, Dimitris Giannakopoulos – who no longer holds this position, being replaced by the long time general manager of the team Manos Papadopoulos – is the reason for the decision, since he didn’t had the right to attend the game, because he was punished. The decision of ΑΣΕΑΔ practically dictated to the sports judge, who initially declared himself unfit to take a decision on the case, what bylaws should be taken into considaration.
It remains to be seen if Panathinaikos this time will appeal the case and go to ΑΣΕΑΔ. However given the previous decision of the council on the matter, it seems unlikely for something to change at this point and Olympiacos will face PAOK in the Greek cup semifinal when the game is scheduled to be played.
