Ettore Messina was afraid that many of his players will defect to the NBA, but as we enter deeper into the summer, CSKA Moscow is emerging again as the biggest favorite to win the Euroleague. The team announced officially the contract extension of Nenad Krstic, with an option for the 2014-15 season.

The next big deal that should be announced by Moscow based powerhouse, probably this Friday – when his NBA option expires – is the renewal of Andrei Kirilenko’s contract. As you have read the biggest Euroleague star has already made his mind and that was one big reason also for Krstic decision. Can we see more movements in the market by the Russians? According to Eurohoops.net, sources Romain Sato seems ready to move to Moscow, even thought Fenerbahce/ Ulker still wants him.

In the meantime, Joan Plaza is the new head coach of Zalgiris Kaunas, after a good season in Spanish club Banca Civica Sevilla. Also Brose Baskets Bamberg re-signed point guard Anton Gavel. There is also movement at the teams of Euroleague’s qualifying round with German club Ulm signing Daniel Theis to a three year contract and Czech club CEZ Nymburk got point guard Mike Taylor from Greek club Kavala.
