With Kirilenko or without?

The second round of Euroleague’s Top 16 starts and the dilemma among the fantasy players is: to buy Andrei Kirilenko or not? Eurohoops decides and suggests other solutions.

The big question has to do with the Russian super star. Do you trust Andrei Kirilenko in the crucial game against Fenerbahce after almost three months out of the action? His price, 70 credits, is like a gift for a player with his quality and “tendency” to produce great rankings; like he was doing in 2011-12. But would you buy him after only three days with his new team, CSKA and three months out of basketball? We don’t. We prefer to test him and maybe buy him later. Moreover, it’s odd that Kirilenko is among the shooting guards and small forwards in the fantasy challenge. So, apart from Kirilenko there are similar thoughts about other newcomers in the Euroleague like Gani Lawal and Gal Mekel. The last one may effect Rochestie’s numbers but not for now, while Kinsey is still out, that is not going to be an issue.

We will get rid of Mike James whose “experiment” was false, Justin Carter, who gave a lot of credits but he isn’t so stable to rely on and Andrey Vorontsevich who has only one double digit game in his last four. Three of them were cheap and we have only 157,1 credits available.

First of all, we buy Trey Thompkins who makes an excellent Top 16 with a 20,3 ranking per game. After him, we will bet on Dimitris Diamantidis who is in great shape having 19 ranking per game in the last three games. Panathinaikos plays a crucial game against Maccabi and DeMarcus Nelson didn’t travel to Tel Aviv. The remaining credits are few but we chose to gamble by picking Marshon Brooks. He has 19 ranking in the last four Euroleague games and he had two good games in the Italian Final Eight. Milano faces one of the worst defenses in the Euroleague, Nizhny, so he’s our third newcomer.

Enjoy fantasy!
