He is a coach that always wants to improve and to expand his horizons/. At the same his American colleagues have in great respect his knowledge of the game and therefore from times to times Ilias Zouros gets invitations from NBA teams. This fall, the Greek coach will follow the training camp of the two teams that shared the best record of the previous regular season of the NBA.
Bulls and Spurs have invited him and the (until recently) head coach of the Greek national team will travel to the other side of the ocean, in order to enrich his knowledge next to top coaches like Tom Thiobodeau and Greg Popovich. With the latter, he has a very good relationship and also with members of the front office of Spurs, since he followed San Antonio’s training camp also two years ago.
His first “visit” in the NBa was in 2005, when he travel to Indiana and Memphis to watch how Rick Carlisle and Mike Fratello operate. Of course if in the meantime Zouros gets hired from a European club, he’ll have to cancel his trip…
