The July is ending with a bang in Euroleague’s transfer market. As it was officially announced, Sonny Weems signed a three season deal with last season finalist CSKA Moscow. The role of former Zalgiris Kaunas and Toronto Raptors player will be quite demanding, as he will have to be the starting small forward after the decision of Andrei Kirilenko to return to the NBA.

However, Weems had an impressive Euroleague campaign averaging 15,5 ppg and 5 rpg in 15 games for Zalgiris. As he said: “I am excited to become part of one of the best European teams. I am happy to get this kind of chance at this stage of my career. It will be interesting to work for Coach Messina. I am ready for any role he will give me.”

One more former NBAer officially signed with a European club. Point guard Marcus Williams has a two-year contract with rebuilding Spanish club Unicaja Malaga. The American player spend last season in China with the Jiangsu Dragons, but he also had an impressive 2010-11 season at Russia, with Enisey Krasnoyarsk, averaging 15,3 ppg and 6,8 apg.
