France started the Olympic tournament with a bad result against USA. Since then. however, the European team is emerging as a medal contender. After beating Argentina, France did the same against Lithuania (82-74) in the first game of the third day at London Olympics men’s tournament. Tony Parker with 27 points and Nicolas Batum with 21 did the damage. Lithuania was held just to nine points in the third quarter, Linas Kleiza was once again the top scorer for his team with 17 points, but France had total control of the game on the second half, thanks to its defence.
As it was expected, after a mediocre first half Argentina put a show againt Tunisia. The final score was 92-69, Manu Ginobili scored 24 points and Luis Scola had a double double (20 p., 10 r.). Still, after the result against Lithuania, France, due to its easy scedule with two games left against Nigeria and Tunisia, is the favorite to win the second place of group A behind USA.
Australia dominated the game against China, beating the Asian team by 20 points (81-61). Even though Chinese shooting guard Shipeng Wang had 21 points with 7/10 three pointers, his team could not keep up, shooting just 10/35 two pointers and 14/24 free throws. Point guard Patty Mills was the top scorer for the winners with 20 points.
