Andrew Goudelock and Jan Vesely are in Madrid to win and they are not hiding it. As they admitted, Fenerbahce/ Ulker wants to go all the way, even if that means beating the hosts of the Final Four.
As Goudelock put it: “No Turkish team has been able to do this in a long time, so we feel very proud and that we owe it to Turkey to do what we can. We didn’t come to lose and just say we came to the Final Four, we’ve got work to do. We have to run them off the three-point line, because they like to take a lot of three-point shots. We have to stop them in transition because they like to run, and we’re going to have to get defensive rebounds and fight hard. We have to mess their intensity. Offensively we just have to play our game – if we share the ball, with everyone getting touches, it will be hard for us to lose because we have a lot of weapons. We’ve just got to do what we’ve been doing all season”.
Vesely added: “It is my first season in Fenerbahce and we started to find ourselves during the season, and coach Obradovic found the good balance between using Bjelica and myself between the 4 and 5. I feel comfortable with that and I used the opportunity coach gave me. I play what my coach tells me to play, it’s my job here. I don’t know about pressure in this game for Real Madrid. They will have many fans on their side and in the Final Four there’s pressure for everyone, so we just have to play the game and see what happens.”
