Facing Italian champion Siena, Cantu managed to prove with a win in the first official game of the season that it can dream big and should be considered as a contender for more trophies, at least in domestic level

The season started in Italy with a change of guard. In the Italian “Super Coppa” final Montepaschi Siena lost its crown to Cantu (73-80). Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team got the revenge for last year’s loss and of course the trophy, after they got the lead at third period and they kept it, while Siena cut their lead to 74-72. But Cantu had the composure to react and got the win. Manu Markoishvili was named the ΜVP of the game, after scoring 15 crucial points.

It’s the first trophy for Cantu in the era of owner Anna Cremascoli – you can read what she said about basketball at Eurohoops.net – and also the best warm up before the qualifying round of Euroleague. Cantu hosts the games next week and of course wants to get the ticket and participate for the second straight season to Euroleague.
