Many players around Europe were unlucky this weekend, with Henry Domercant of Galatasaray and Thomas Kelati of Valencia being injured and both missing the next month, however the unluckiest of them all proved to be Nathan Peavy of Alba Berlin.
Just 30 second before the end of the exhibition game against Varese – the Italian team eventually won 74-73 – Peavy suffered from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and a broken femur, as the medical examination on Monday revealed. Alba will need to replace him, since he will probably miss the entire season and will not make his Euroleague debut after all.
On the contrary, Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic may have the chance to do so, after being loaned to Prokom from Fenerbahce/ Ulker which signed him to a six year deal back in 2010.
