The season started in Italy with Siena hosting Brindisi in an encounter for the second game day of the league and getting an impressive win. The final score was 92-65 in favor of the reigning champions who needed a big win after losing the Supercup to Cantu.
Former NBAer Bobby Brown was the top scorer with 18 points in a game that was decided in the second half. The partial score of the last two periods was 49-23 for Siena which still is the team to beat in Italy.
In Badalona, Spain, Barcelona (photo) prevailed over Joventut (76-69) and won the local “Lliga Catalana”. Erazem Lorbek with 15 points was once again the top scorer for the winners and Sarunas Jasikevicius returned to action after missing the Supercup Final Four. In the semifinal of the competition Barca beat Lleida by 20 points (80-60).
