Christmas waits for Olympiacos’ desicion

Dionte Christmas was among the first choices of Olympiacos’ transfer list during the summer but after a good summer league performance, he signed with Boston Celtics. However, a week ago Christmas was released, got around 240,000 dollars by the NBA team, because his contract was half guaranteed and now he is searching for the next stop of his career.

His Greek agent, Marios Olympios, talked to Eurohoops.net and admitted that “there was some interest three months ago and I offered Christmas again to Reds. But there isn’t still any official offer from them”.

His great season in Rethymno last year got the attention of many teams and according to some sources, Olympiacos is not the only Greek team that Christmas has been offered. His price (around 25,000 dollars per month) eases the case, but still the European champions haven’t decided what to do. As coach Giorgos Bartzokas said during his press conference before the Euroleague game against Zalgiris: “I can’t be thinking about transfers right now. I have to be focused on the task before me”.

Olympiacos has an open spot in the roster for an American player but if they sign Christmas , there will be… a traffic problem in perimeter. In that case, the player who should be worried more than anyone else is Martinas Gecevicius, who is already the 12th player of the team. Giorgos Bartzokas on the other hand declared that the Lithuanian guard will play more minutes in the forthcoming games.
