Stephon Marbury showed the way by taking a detour around Europe and being the first NBA superstar who signed in Chinese CBA. Gilbert Arenas is ready to follow his footsteps. According to sources near the situation the former superstar of Washington Wizards has a deal with Shanghai Sharks after a week of practicing with them.
On Friday (9/11) he will be examined by the doctors of the team and if they give he clearance, he will officially announced by the team, which is owned by Chinese basketball icon Yao Ming. So, “agent zero” is expected to make his debut in China on the 24th of Nevember against the defending champions Beijing Ducks of Stephon Marbury.
Arenas spend the week under the microscope of Shark’s strength coach, James Scott, who have worked in the past at the Rockets when Yao Ming was playing. The 30 years old Arenas will find one more American in Shark’s roster, former Thunder and Bobcats player D.J.White.
