Lakers first offered contract to Lin

By Rigas Dardalis

New York Knicks are getting all the credit for the “explosion” of Jeremy Lin, but long before them it was the Los Angeles Lakers that have offered the first professional contract to the American-Taiwanese guard.

It was the summer of 2010, when (then) assistant GM of Lakers Ronnie Lester had offered a non guaranteed contract to the Harvard graduate, as he wanted to strengthen point guard position for the NBA champions of that time.

But a few days later Lin “found” a guaranteed deal from Golden State and there he preferred to sign with the Warriors. Lester is considered one of the top executives of the NBA and his absence from the front office has really “hurt” the Lakers.
