It was only a matter of time for the deal between the Greek basketball federation and Andrea Trinchieri to be announced and that was exactly what happened. The owner of Pallacanestro Cantu, Anna Cremascoli confirmed the deal in her interview at the newspaper “Il Corriere di Como”: “We are proud that our coach Andrea Trinchieri has been chosen by the Greek federation to lead the national team. We have left coach Trinchieri the final decision. We are convinced that he can coach both us and the Greek national team”.
The official announcement by the Greek federation is just a formality at this point, the deal with Trinchieri is for two years and as Eurohoops learned he will have three assistants by his side in the Greek national team. His choices were his good friends, former player and coach Giorgos Limniatis and also coach Ilias Kantzouris, former assistant of Ilias Zouros in Zalgiris Kaunas. One more former player with a big career, Dimitris Papanikolaou, was added to his stuff according to the federation’s wish.
UPDATE: As it was expected the Greek national federation announced the signing of coach Trinchieri.
