Olympiacos is still searching for a guard in order to boost its roster and the deadline is pressing the Reds. They have to sign a player until Tuesday and register him in Euroleague. Shelvin Mack seems to be negative towards Europe and he will wait for a call from the NBA. The defending Euroleague champions made also one last effort to lure Jeremy Pargo, but he wasn’t interested since he is expecting a new contract with the Sixers.
Olympiacos had to explore other options and the most important seems to be Walter Hodge, the Puerto Rican guard playing for Polish team Zielona Gora. The former player of Florida Gators is one of the most efficient guards in Eurocup – he is this week’s MVP with a 42 ranking – and he has an impressive 50% three point accuracy after 5 Last16 games.
Of course, he was a contract in Poland and he is the leader of the team. However, even if his team wins the championship, it will not have the chance to play in Euroleague, since Prokom has an A license. That detail may be in favor of Olympiacos in order to get the 27 years old guard in Piraeus.
UPDATE: According to sport.pl Walter Hodge confirmed the offer of Olympiacos, however as he said: “I will remain until the end of the season in Zielona Gora, as we have the target of winning the championship”.
