Greek forward Panagiotis Vasilopoulos is ready to sign a contract with Spanish club Valladolid and he will return to the courts in Europe’s most prestigious league, Liga Endesa. The 29 years old player is trying once more to return to action after a series of bad luck, injuries and surgeries in his right knee.
Vasilopoulos was a member of Euroleague champions Olympiacos since 2005 until 2012, but since the final four of 2009 he has been fighting with injuries. In the start of 2011 he appeared again on the courts after a back injury, he was supposed to have a big role in coach Ivkovic’s plans, but once again he was injured in his knee
Since then he has been trying to get healthy again, he had to travel to times in the USA in order to see a specialist, dr. Christopher Harner in Pittsburgh, and he had his surgery there. Since last May he is working in his rehab and now he is ready to play basketball again.
He has been negotiating the last month with his former team, PAOK, he had also some contacts with Zalgiris Kaunas but finally he is ready to sign a one year contract with Valladolid and he is expected to travel to Spain during the next week. His contract will include a buy out which expires in January 2014 that permits him to leave for an other club which competes in Euroleague or in Liga Endesa.
