Because of the rumors about Besiktas being interested in signing Martynas Pocius and the player himself denying the possibility of leaving Zalgiris Kaunas, after signing a two years contract last summer, Eurohoops tried to find if there is fire, where there is – at the moment – a lot of smoke.
According to our sources, Pocius can leave Zalgiris, but not yet. There is a clause in his contract that gives him the right to continue his career elsewhere, if the team fails to reach Euroleague’s Top16, in case he has a better offer. Until then, he will try his best in order to help Zalgiris extend its Euroleague season, which is the main priority of the club, after the decision to not play this year in VTB league. It’s safe to assume that simular clauses exists also in other players’ contracts, due to the difficult financial situation of the club.
