One of the key players of Euroleague defending champions Olympiacos who was the man of the match in last year’s final against Real Madrid is expected to miss a crucial part of the season, just before the tip off of the Top16. The American guard will probably need surgery in his knee and in that case he is going to miss 6-8 weeks, meaning that he will not be ready for action until the play offs at the best case scenario.
Since the start of the season Law was having problems with his knee and he tried to play through his injury, hoping that he will get healthy via the special medical treatment he received. In the last two games against Panathinaikos and KAOD (both defeats for the Reds) his situation got worse, he can’t help the team and at this point a surgery seems to be the only solution.
Olympiacos can’t afford not to sign a temporary replacement, since Law was a key in the team’s plans, Top16 can make or break the season of every European team and the backcourt is the backbone of Olympiacos playing style. With Law missing, there’s the need for one pure point guard.
That been said, Olympiacos doesn’t have the luxury of time, since they have to sign a player 24 hours before the start of Top16. That means they have less than 48 hours to sign a quality player and that’s not easy. It’s a big blow to the team in a very bad timing, just before the start of many crucial and hard games.
