The 10th signing of a non Greek player this season in Olympiacos is going to be the biggest, if completed. The defending Euroleague champions have decided to boost their roster for the almost certain Greek league finals against Panathinaikos and the player they want to add is Bobby Brown.
The 29years old American guard was Euroleague’s top scorer last season as a member of Siena – having almost 19 point per game – and he recently concluded his season in the Chinese CBA.
As the leader of DongGuan Leopards in 41 games he had an average of 30.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.6 steals. He scored more than 30 points in 22 games, over 30 points in five games and his personal record is 74 points, registered in the 27th of December 2013.
Brown has also an offer from his team in China to continue his career in the CBA. His new contract is expected to include an NBA opt out option with a summer deadline, however his next stop can be Europe, something that wasn’t planned neither by him or by Olympiacos. According to Eurohoops sources, the offer of the Greek team can be called “tantalizing”.
The challenge of creating a backcourt duo with Vasilis Spanoulis is considered a great challenge by Brown himself, so his decision is expected soon. If Olympiacos gets him signed, then Mardy Collins will lose his roster spot and Giorgi Shermandini will not play in the Greek league.
Even the possibility of the Reds using Mirza Begic in their domestic competition can be excluded, since the Slovenian center is still on the active roster for the Greek league and he is training individually in Piraeus.
