Since the moment he decided, back in the summer of 2008, to leave the NBA at the pick of his career and sign a mega-deal in Greece with Olympiacos, it was clear that Josh Childress was a unique case. Since then, many things happened and now, according to Eurohoops sources, he is considering a come back to professional basketball. And in his typical Josh way, he is going to take the less traveled road.
Childress has a contract offer by the Sydney Kings of Australian NBL and he is currently considering this option. After being cut last December by New Orleans, Childress’ career has been in a limbo, however money is not an issue for him. He was amnestied by Phoenix back in 2012 and he will be paid for the upcoming season a total of 7.3 m. US dollars by the Suns. Meanwhile, he got his sociology degree from Stanford and he was always a person open to new experiences and foreign cultures.
While money-wise the offer by the Kings is low and the basketball challenge is modest, the allure of getting in touch with an other continent seems intriguing and it’s up to him to decide if he will give NBL a try.
UPDATE: As the Sydney Kings announced, Josh Childress accepted their offer.
