The Slovenian power forward/center, Gasper Vidmar, suffered a serious knee injury last February and as a result he lost the rest of the season. For a long time he is negotiating with Fenerbahce/Ulker about the termination of his contract.
According to Eurohoops sources from Turkey, even though there are still talks and nothing has been finalized, the 27 year old Slovenian is close to the end of his contract with Fenerbahce and this would probably automatically happen when he will complete a new deal with Dogus Darussafaka, as it’s more than likely.
The ambitious Turkish club, which wants him, can cover most of his contract’s demands for next season. The plan is to sign him and add a good and experienced player to its roster. Oktay Mahmuti examines also the case of adding Ian Vougioukas, but Vidmar is the first option. The Greek center is in talks with Zenit St Petersburg, while the latest reports indicate that Panathinaikos, which decided to get a roster as full as possible with local players and still miss a center, has contacted him again.
