Alexey Shved will not join the Russian national team in the remaining EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers, announced via a post on Instagram the GM of the national team, Sergei Panov. Those games are placed within the winter schedule conflicting with his club obligations as a member of Khimki Moscow Region.
“Via an agreement with the club, Alexey Shved will not be part of the selection for the EuroBasket qualifiers,” wrote Panov, “The decision regarding the Olympic qualifying tournament will be made at a later date.”
Russia drew alongside Italy, Estonia, and North Macedonia, and is currently 1-1 in Group B with four games left. The senior NT is also scheduled to face Germany and Mexico in the preliminary round of the Olympic qualifying tournament set in Split.
