The German NT roster became even stronger today as FIBA informed the German federation that Bayern Munich’s point guard Anton Gavel is allowed to play for Germany. Born in the Slovak Republic, Gavel lives since 2000 in Germany and has, since January 2013, a German passport.

“This is obviously good news for us. Anton trained for three weeks with us, he is fully integrated and a part of the team. Now he can finally play like he deserves and this is very important for us”, head coach Chris Fleming said.

Gavel had played in the past for the Slovak national team but he applied in order to change basketball nationality and FIBA granted his wish.
