The first day of the Tblisi City Hall Cup, a Eurobasket preparation tournament, ended up being a showcase for Italy and Georgia which got big wins over Latvia and Estonia respectively.
Italy beat Latvia with ease (82-63). Danilo Gallinari led the winners with 22 points, setting the tone from the first half with 16. Andrea Bargnani added 15, Marco Bellineli had 13 and Luigi Datome scored 9 points. Veteran sharp shooter Janis Blums had 13 points for Latvia.
In the first game of the day, the hosts, Georgia, destroyed Estonia (90-55) having in total seven double digits scorers. Zaza Pachulia was the leader of the winners with 16 points and 5 rebounds, while naturalized guard Jacob Pullen wasn’t needed to do much (3 p., 4 as.). Janar Talts scored 13 points for the losing side.
