Once more Italy was the team to watch in the Tblisi preparation tournament for the upcoming Eurobasket. The “azzurri” got the 87-67 win over host Georgia. Also Estonia beat Latvia and in Hague, Holland prevailed over Portugal.
Alessandro Gentile was the top scorer for the Italians with 20 points, while Gallinari(17 p.), Datome (15 p.), Bargnani and Hackett (11 p.) also scored in double digits. Despite one more double double by Zaza Pachulia (21 p., 11 r.), Italy just couldn’t be matched.
On the first game of the day, Estonia managed to edge Latvia (70-69). Kristjan Kangur had 14 points for the winners who didn’t need a last second shot, as Latvia just cut the lead to one point in the last seconds. Martins Meiers scored 18 points for the losing side.
Holland got the easy 82-57 win over Portugal in the last day of the Hague tournament. However Portugal doesn’t compete in Eurobasket.
