A possible crisis in the Turkish national team seems to be right around the corner, just few days before the Eurobasket 2015 tip off as Fenerbahce’s president Aziz Yildirim wants to pull his players out of the national team.
Speaking to television station “Haberturk”, Yildirim asked for Ergin Ataman to resign either from Galatasaray or the national team, or else Fenerbahce’s players will not play under him. This is not something new. Yildirim said pretty much the same one year ago during the TBL finals, which ended with Galatasaray refusing to play in the last game of the series and Fenerbahce winning the title.
In the past also the same was said in Greece, when Olympiacos threatened to pull out its players from the national team, because of the club’s bad relations with the Greek basketball federation. However, this never became a reality and the question at this point is if this can happen at the other side of the Aegean sea.
