The stage is all set for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Draw, with the Verti Music Hall in Berlin, Germany announced as the location for the ceremony and the official seedings revealed, as FIBA announced Friday.
The draw, set to take place on Thursday, April 29 at 13:00 CET, will sort the 24 participating teams into four groups of six teams each for the 41st edition of Europe’s most prestigious basketball event, co-hosted by the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany and Italy.
The draw will be live-streamed on the FIBA YouTube channel and the official FIBA EuroBasket Facebook page.
Due to the COVID-19 situation in Germany and taking into consideration the current governmental restrictions, the draw will be held behind closed doors with only the four hosting National Federations and a limited number of guests in attendance.
The 24 qualified teams were seeded according to the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike.
The seedings are as follows:
Respecting the seedings, FIBA EuroBasket 2022 hosts Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany and Italy have the right to choose a partner federation that will play the Group Phase in the respective country.
The agreements between Germany and Lithuania, as well as Czech Republic and Poland, were announced last month. Meanwhile, the partner federations for the two other FIBA EuroBasket 2022 hosts, Georgia and Italy, will be confirmed at a later stage.
The FIBA EuroBasket 2022 will take place from September 1-18, 2022 with the Group Phase taking place in Cologne, Germany; Milan, Italy; Tbilisi, Georgia; and Prague, Czech Republic.
The Final Phase of the event will be played in the German capital Berlin.
