The hosts of Bydgoszcz preparation tournament, Poland, and Belgium were the winners of the first day by beating Iceland and Lebanon respectively.
Belgium had the easier task in the 88-53 win. Maxim De Zeeuw had 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Matt Lojeski added 12 points, while Lebanon couldn’t get into the game.
Poland on the other hand after a close first half (36-35), prevailed in the second on the way to the 80-65 win. Once again Marcin Gortat was the leader of Poland (17 p., 8 r., 4 as.), Mateusz Ponitka added 12 points and Damian Kulig missed the double double for one rebound (10 p., 9 r.). Logi Gunnarsson led Iceland with 19 points.
