The end of the preparation period of Italy for the upcoming Eurobasket ended with a record night for Danilo Gallinari and a win. The “azzurri” got the 68-63 win over Russia in the last game of the Trieste tournament.
Gallinari had his best night with the Italian national team, scoring 32 points and getting 10 rebounds. Of those points, 19 came from 21 free throws, as Russia once more tried to play physical defence and paid for it. Marco Belinelli with 16 points was the only other Italian who scored in double digits, but Gallinari also decided the outcome with two free throws and a steal. Andrey Zubkov with 14 points was the leading scorer of Russia.
