Antoine Diot proved to be unlucky and Thomas Heurtel is called back in the French national team for the upcoming Eurobasket, as the French federation announced.
Diot was injured on the right thigh on yesterday’s practice and he is going to miss the tournament as today’s medical exams revealed. That’s why Heurtel who was preparing for the upcoming season with his club, Anadolu Efes, is called back and he will help France defend its title. It’s a change in the roster just three days before the tip off and it remains to be seen if and how it will affect the team.
The initial decision of coach Collet to cut Heurtel from the roster was much discussed, because of the great tournament the player had in last season’s FIBA World Cup. Collet’s decision was explained by the style of play he wanted and the needs of the current roster, which includes also Tony Parker. Now, Heurtel will have the change to prove that initial decision wrong.
