With 16 points and six rebounds, Matt Lojeski led Belgium to their first win in tournament against Estonia 55-84  in Riga.

“The first 20 minutes of basketball are what we remember, it was what we needed and we finished the game by, let’s say, taking care of business. It’s one win,” Belgium’s coach Eddy Casteels said.

Belgium was unstoppable in the first half, taking a 28-point advantage (18-46), and never looked back. The Belgian team outscored their opponents 9-27 in the first quarter and ended the first half with 67% in shooting (16/24), being dominant both defensively and offensively.

In the second half, nothing changed and Belgium, one day after their loss to Latvia, was victorious against a squad which proves to be the weak link of the group.

Estonia’s head coach Tiit Sokk said afterwards: “It was a terrible beginning for us. In the second half, we changed the line-up a little bit and started to play more aggressively. It was much better, but Belgium were already too far in front.”

Sam Van Rossom added 14 points for the winners, while Siim- Sander Vene was the top scorer for Estonia with 12.
