Bojan Bogdanovic was a spectator and that’s a good excuse, but on the other hand Vasilis Spanoulis and Greece just can’t be denied in a close game. Greece got the 72-70 win over Croatia in Group C with “Kill Bill” deciding the outcome.
Croatia led even by 10 points (40-30) at the start of the second half, but Greece just doesn’t give up. With six minutes to go, Spanoulis made a three and in the next possession got fouled by Roko Ukic. He made also 3/3 FT throws and cut the lead of Croatia to two (61-59). Ante Tomic scored four straight points (65-59), but then it was Bourousis with a bucket and Spanoulis’ turn again with one more three!
Croatia was still up by one (65-64) and Kostas Sloukas gave to Greece the lead (65-66). Mario Hezonja answered (67-66), but the rest of the game was all Greece. With a 6-0 run which was completed with a shot by Giorgos Printezis after a Sloukas assist (72-67) the guests got a five points advantage and this proved to be enough. Spanoulis finished the game with 16 points, while Krunoslav Simon had 18 for Croatia.
