Russia failed miserably in the Eurobasket and the new federation president Andrei Kirilenko has to take action in order to turn things around. However, coach Pashutin is ready to take the blame for the bad results.
As he said: “I am ready to speak with the president of the federation, Andrei Kirilenko, and face the face the consequences. I am the coach and I understand that I am the only one responsible for the bad results of the team”.
Andrey Vorontsevich, one of the most experienced players of the team, added: “We are devastated. We have to analyse first of all our game and not what our opponents did. We made a lot of turnovers. We have to move forward, not try to find scapegoats. Our will to play for the team and our devotion can’t be disputed”.
