Danilo Gallinari and Marco Belinelli just couldn’t be denied. The amazing 105-98 over Spain proved that Italy is probably the most gifter offensive team of the tournament and this can be proven also in the second phase.
Gallinari finished the game with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, Belinelli had 27 points, 17 of them in the third quarter, and 7 assists. He was the man who pushed Italy in a double digits lead which Italy managed to keep until the end. The team of coach Pianigiani scored in total 62 points in the second half, something that clearly Spain wasn’t expecting.
Andrea Bargnani added 18 points, while Pau Gasol from the losing side with 34 points, 10 rebounds and five assists tried to save the day all alone, but in the end he didn’t have real help from anyone. Italy is now tied with Turkey in the second place of the group standings with a 2-1 record, behind Serbia (3-o) and Spain is tied with Germany at 1-2 wins.
