Lithuania got the overtime win over the Czech Republic (85-81) and got the top spot on the final Group D standings. That translates with a match up against Georgia in the second round. The Czechs, which also qualified, will play against Croatia.
With the scored tied at 69, Lithuania had a six seconds possession but Mantas Kalnietis couldn’t score. What he missed at the buzzer, he made at the extra time. Kalnietis scored two crucial threes on the way to 15 points, Kuzminskas who had in total 18 points added one more and also the Lithuanians made their free throws on the way to the win.
The Czechs had the chance to finish on top of the group, still they proved in Riga that they will put up a fight in Lille. Also Tomas Satoransky made history with 15 assists, which is a new record for a single Eurobasket game.
