Despite the absences and despite the relative saturation that the coming and going of people inevitably brings, Spain has already reached the Top 8 of the EuroBasket, playing for an entry into the medals zone against Greece. With this Gasol how can they not just advance unabated?
At 35 years of age, the Catalan center emits an unbelievable maturity and self-confidence. In addition to his undeniable class and leadership, he has been highly effective and so far he has been having the best tournament of his career with Spain. He can do everything on the court.
He can score in every way, from close- as well as long-distance (against Poland he had 6/7 three-point field goals), he covers the basket in defense, at the same time collecting all the rebounds and – most importantly – utilizing his teammates extremely well.
It’s the most productive tournament of his career in assists and the second best in points scored, while it remains to be seen whether he will manage to remain the top scorer of the tournament until the end or whether he will go any higher than 5th place in rebounds. In the table below you can see all of his stats from the big tournaments he has taken part in with the Furias Rojas…
