Pau Gasol made another impressive record in this year’s Eurobasket. The Spanish star can be proud of being third in the all-time scoring list in the Eurobasket, surpassing the great Nick Galis.
The “gangster” of the Greek basketball was on top of the list in the beginning of the tournament, but it was not late before Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki surpassing the Greek legend. On the occasion of Pau Gasol, though, things were more difficult. The leader of “La Furia Roha” started the tournament from nineth place with 814 points. His impressive performances helped him to climb in the fourth place and eleven points away from Galis before the beginning of the Final. Now, with the points he scored against Lithuania, the best player of this year’s Eurobasket is now third on the all-time scoring list, as he left behind the legendary Greek player.
It is worth mentioning that Nick Galis is still “intangible”, as he only needed 33 matches to score 1030 points, averaging a unique 31.2 points per game. This record is almost unlikely to be surpassed with the way modern basketball is playing.
