Pau Gasol was asked on OTE TV about the fact that he surpassed Nikos Galis in All-time Scorers in Eurobaskets and said: “Galis was a really huge player. It’s an honour for me that I surrpased him. and that doesn’t dicline Galis’ value at all”.
Sergio Scariolo won his third Eurobasket during the last six years and named Gasol as the best European player ever: “We made a huge success. We started the tournament without playing so well, we had injury problems, but as the tournament was going on, we found our own rythm and our chemistry as team. Everybody knows that I have good personal relationship with Pau Gasol, but what’s I’m going to say is objective. Pau Gasol is the best European player ever”.
