The FIBA Europe Board decided on the three countries that will host the Group Phase of the EuroBasket 2025 – Latvia, Finland, and Cyprus. Latvia will also be hosting the Final Phase.
Latvia hosted 12 European championships over the last fifteen years, including various age groups. In 2015, Riga hosted the group phase of EuroBasket and that was the last time the competition was held in Latvia.
Latvia, Hungary, Russia and Ukraine submitted bids for both the Group Phase and the Final Phase of the event while Cyprus and Finland only placed bids to organize the Group phase.
Russia’s bid was suspended by FIBA following the war in Ukraine. The Board has also decided to continue exclusive discussions with Ukraine for the hosting of the fourth group of FIBA EuroBasket 2025 until November 2022.
