The Polish Basketball Association announced the 16-player list for the 2022 EuroBasket on Thursday.

Coming out of Baylor and selected by the San Antonio Spurs with the ninth overall pick of the 2022 NBA draft, Jeremy Sochan draws the most attention among the call-ups. Most based in Poland’s PLK, the remaining players are scattered all around Europe. Last played for Zenit, Mateusz Ponitka is a free agent.

Poland’s list of selections:

Aleksander Balcerowski (Gran Canaria)
Aaron Cel (Twarde Pierniki Torun)
Jakub Coulibaly (Trefl Sopot)
Aleksander Dziewa (Slask Wroclaw)
Jakub Garbacz (Arged BM Slam Stal Ostrow Wielkopolski)
Lukasz Kolenda (Slask Wroclaw)
Michal Kolenda (Trefl Sopot)
Filip Matczak (King Wilki Morskie Szczecin)
Michal Michalak (Metropolitans 92)
Dominik Olejniczak (BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque)
Mateusz Ponitka
Jakub Schenk (Tours Metropole Basket)
A.J. Slaughter (Gran Canaria)
Jeremy Sochan (San Antonio Spurs)
Michal Sokolowski (NutriBullet Treviso)
Jaroslaw Zyskowski (Trefl Sopot)

Poland will compete in Group D of the preliminary round in Prague. The schedule holds matchups opposite the hosts Czech Republic, Finland, Israel, the Netherlands, and Serbia from 2 to 8 September. The teams placed first through fourth will advance to the next round with the remaining stages of the tournament to be hosted in Berlin between 10 and 18 September.

In contrast to most countries participating in the EuroBasket, Poland failed to seal a ticket to the second and final round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Falling behind Germany, Israel, and Estonia, the team coached by Igor Milicic will not be part of the upcoming international window in late August.
