Spain’s first game prep game against Greece ended up being a Giannis show, however, the Spaniards have proven time and time and again that they just know what to do in FIBA tournaments.
Quino Colom talked after the final buzzer for the game and the atmosphere at OAKA, a gym he knows pretty well, especially after playing in Greece with AEK, about the “unstoppable” Giannis and also about the resilience of the Spanish national team and the future with Spanish junior teams dominating the competitions in Europe.
As he said: “We were talking about this four years ago at the 2019 World Cup, the first year without the generation from the 80s and we won the gold medal. So, those guys deserve the respect of the people. We will fight a lot, this is 100% (sure) and we’ll see. You can see the young generation, the results, they are coming strong. The present is good, but the future will be even better”.
And it remains to be seen how this will be translated in the second prep game between the two teams, coming up tomorrow in Madrid.
