Experienced guard Sergio Llull will not represent Spain in the remaining international fixtures of the offseason, including the 2022 EuroBasket.

A minor injury confirmed following the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers Group L opener versus Iceland forced him out of the list of available players, as announced by the Spanish Basketball Federation Thursday.

Llull, 34, feeling discomfort lasted only 2:44 in yesterday’s games hosted in Pamplona. He underwent further tests this morning and was ruled out for the remainder of FIBA’s international window and EuroBasket. The injury is not considered serious, as noted by FEB. The next goal is to get ready for the next season at the club level with Real Madrid.

As for the team coached by Sergio Scariolo featuring the next generation of international players following in the footsteps of retired Pau and Marc Gasol, Sergio Rodriguez, and others, La Roja will take on the Netherlands in Almere Saturday aiming to jump to 5-1 in Group L. Switching to EuroBasket and playing in Group A of the preliminary round, the next opponents are Bulgaria, Georgia, Belgium, Montenegro, and Turkey in Tbilisi up to 7 September, looking for the ticket to the knockout stage and Berlin.
